Why we chose this coffee:

We are thrilled to introduce the second Ethiopian origin to join the Lunaria lineup. After an incredible reception of Golden Hour, our first Ethiopian from Guji, we heard your feedback loud and clear: you wanted that signature brightness back in your cup. We’ve been diligently sourcing with our traders to find something that honors that request while offering its own unique spin. Enter Alpine Bloom, a Kochere G2 that delivers the familiar elegance you loved, with a fresh, sparkling twist for the new year.

High in the Gedeo Zone, the town of Chelelektu sits at a staggering 2,100m where the air is thin and the coffee is exceptional. This lot is a tribute to the 650 smallholder farmers who meticulously hand-sort their garden coffee cherries before delivering them to the Chelelektu washing station.

Because of the extreme altitude and mineral-rich soil, the heirloom varieties here develop a dense, complex sugar structure. After a 48-hour fermentation and two weeks of sun-drying on raised beds, the result is a cup of incredible clarity. While our previous roasts leaned into heavy sweetness, Alpine Bloom offers a refined, "sparkling" profile, opening with bright lemon peel and crisp grape, and settling into a nostalgic, silky finish reminiscent of vanilla and craft cola.

• Grind size: Select 'Whole bean' if you prefer to grind your coffee at home, or select 'Espresso grind' or 'Filter grind' if you want us to pre-grind your coffee for you
