If you've made it to this page – hi, nice to meet you! We are Sophie and Edison, and we're so excited to share our love of coffee with you.

Our journey began in 2019 in our small New York City apartment. Through years of enjoying and appreciating NYC's coffee shops, our love for specialty coffee led us to brew our own, beginning with acquiring our now beloved Rocket Appartamento espresso machine. Since then, our passion and curiosity for coffee exponentially grew and we spent years learning how to brew specialty coffee and exploring roasters worldwide.

Edison also worked with Spring Valley Coffee in Nairobi, Kenya during a business school externship, giving him a unique opportunity to dive headfirst into the African coffee industry. He learned the intricacies of roasting practices, seeing firsthand how a successful roaster operates their business and produce high quality, specialty coffee.

Curiosity soon led us down the home roasting rabbit hole in 2024. Edison learned to roast different origins, often testing his little roaster (and his smoke detector's patience) to the limit for distinct tasting profiles. What began as a personal exploration quickly transformed into a joy of sharing. We found so much joy roasting for friends and family, sharing our coffee over brunch parties and coffee dates, hearing their excited feedback, and simply enjoying a good time together.

That shared joy and communal spirit sparked Lunaria Coffee Roasters. For us, Lunaria is more than just roasting beans; it's about continuing our discovery, cultivating our love for good-tasting specialty coffee, and making that wonderful experience available to everyone. We are driven by the belief that great coffee brings people together, and we are incredibly excited to bring our passion to you.
